Redicote EM 44 is produced by Akzo Nobel Surface Chemistry a liquid emulsifier for cationic rapid- and medium-setting bitumen emulsions suitable for chipseal and tack coat. It’s an emulsifier for phosphoric acid slurry systems providing emulsion with medium or low viscosity and good storage stability, at low dosage.

Benefits and Features

• Low use level: 0.12-0.22% is normally sufficient for rapid-set emulsions.
• Emulsion quality: Emulsions have good storage stability. The product is particularly suitable for polymer-modified bitumens.
• Emulsion viscosity: High residue emulsions prepared using Redicote EM44 typically have medium or low viscosity which is useful when dealing with viscosity-building bitumens.
• Easy handling and storage: Redicote EM44 is a liquid, and is exceptionally easy to dissolve in even cold water during the preparation of emulsion soap phase. The product is suitable for both inline and batch plants.

Dosage

• Cationic Rapid Set Emulsion      :   0.12-0.25%  pH 1.5-3.5 Hydrochloric acid
• Cationic Medium Set Emulsion :  0.25-0.60%   pH 1.5-3.5 Hydrochloric acid
• Slurry and Microsurfacing           :  0.80-1.50%   pH 2.0-3.0 Phosphoric acid

Storage and Handling

Redicote EM44 may be stored in carbon steel tanks. Bulk storage should be maintained at 15-35°C (59-95°F). Redicote EM44 contains amines may cause severe irritation or burns to skin and eyes. Packaging Information

Redicote EM44 is available in bulk shipment, in tight head drums of 180kg (397lb) net weight or in one-way totes (IBCs) of 900kg(1984lbs).
